N15m Bribe: Bobrisky Sues VeryDarkMan for Defamation and Blackmail, Seeks N1bn in Damages

Controversial crossdresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, has initiated legal action against social media activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, seeking N1 billion in damages for alleged defamation and blackmail.

In a viral audio recording, VeryDarkMan claimed that Bobrisky paid N15 million in bribes to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to dismiss money laundering charges against him.

In a letter from his legal team, R.T. Omuvwie & Co., which Bobrisky shared on social media on Sunday, September 28, 2024, he asserted that the audio was fabricated using artificial intelligence.

Bobrisky is demanding that VeryDarkMan retract the audio and all “defamatory statements,” as well as issue a public apology.

The letter states, “We demand, on behalf of our client, a written apology published in two national daily newspapers, a video recording of your apology posted on all your social media platforms, and a commitment to refrain from publishing defamatory content against our client. Additionally, we seek the payment of N1,000,000,000 in damages within 24 hours of this notice.”

The letter further warns that failure to comply with these demands will result in legal action in a competent court without further notice. “We hope this can be resolved within the next 24 hours.”
