Man Arrested for Allegedly St*bbing His Newlywed Wife to De*th in Lagos State

The Lagos State police have arrested a 30-year-old man named Motunrayo Olaniyi for allegedly st*bbing his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to de*th on Friday, October 4, at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

According to a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Motunrayo reportedly st*bbed his 25-year-old wife multiple times during a domestic dispute, locked her in the room, and set it on fire. Hundeyin stated that Olaniyi also inflicted wounds on himself after the incident.

The statement reads, in part:

“A distress call was received on October 4 at Ikorodu Division regarding a newly wedded couple, Motunrayo Olaniyi, aged 30, and his wife Olajumoke, aged 25, who allegedly engaged in a domestic altercation in their room at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Ikorodu. During the incident, the husband reportedly st*bbed the wife to death, locked her in the room, and set it ablaze while inflicting wounds on himself.”

Police from the Ikorodu Division responded to the distress call, extinguished the fire, and discovered Olajumoke’s lifeless body with abdominal wounds. Hundeyin added that Olaniyi was rescued, taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and then placed in police custody after being discharged.

The police spokesperson mentioned that a preliminary investigation revealed the suspect st*bbed his wife during the altercation and inflicted minor wounds on himself. The body has been sent to Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy, and a further investigation is ongoing.
