Adamawa Police Arrest Man Who Climbed High Tension Pole to Demand President Tinubu’s Resignation (Video)

The Adamawa State Police Command has rescued and arrested a young man who climbed a 33kV high-tension pole in Mayo-Belwa Local Government Area, demanding that President Bola Tinubu resign before he would come down.

The incident occurred on the morning of Friday, September 27, 2024, coinciding with Mayo-Belwa’s market day, when the young man scaled the pole along the Yola-Jalingo highway. Local residents, with assistance from the police, tried to convince him to descend, and he finally agreed to come down on Saturday night.

SP Suleiman Nguruje, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident to Punch on Sunday, September 29, stating that the man is currently in protective custody at the Criminal Investigating Department.

“The command will present him on Monday for attempting suicide. Under our constitution, attempting suicide is a criminal offense, and he will be charged in court,” said the PPRO.

Nguruje stressed that it is the police’s constitutional duty to protect lives and property, adding that anyone attempting to take their own life will face legal action.
