Me and my siblings call our Nanny Mom and we call our Mom Aunty. This is because we were her used to seeing Mom around when we were growing up. My Mom is a very successful businessman but I feel that she should have created some time for us her kids. Because of the busy schedule of our Mom, she got us a Nanny. From the first day Mummy Blessing came into our house, she totally clicked with us.
You know what we admired about her so much, was the fact that she went out of her way to things she shouldn’t have. She’s known by others as Mummy Blessing because that’s the name of her first daughter but we just call her Mummy. Our Dad is also a very busy man. Even though we had a driver that was assigned to pick and drop us at school, Mummy Blessing always made sure that she came along with the driver every single time we are at school.
It got to the point where everyone thought she was our biological mother. Even during PTA meetings, she’s the one who always showed up as our parent. Mummy Blessing attending every inter-house sport games to cheer us at the stands. She was present at all quiz and debate competitions that we represented our school. She played the biggest role in our lives.
When she just started living with us, she was told to live in the little boys quarters with her kids. It was a very small room that wasn’t conducive for them. We pressured our parents to let her move into the main house with us. They didn’t want to allow that but they had no choice when even at midnight, they would search for us only to find us in Mummy Blessing’s room.
Her salary wasn’t enough to send her kids to school. We also were not having any of that. After much pressure, our parents enrolled her kids in a good school. We all lived as one, even till date, you can’t tell that we are not biological siblings. Mummy Blessing’s second son Michael is around the same age with me.
Me and Michael got into trouble together and we always had our backs. The first girl I ever asked out, Michael was there and on my wedding day, Micheal was my Best Man. Even though she no longer plays the role of our Nanny, Mummy Blessing is still a huge part of our lives.
When my sister started seeing that time of the month, Mummy Blessing was there. She’s always been there. She loves us so much and made us never to feel lonely. Even our parents have accepted the fact that Mummy Blessing will always be closer to us than them.
After she stopped being our Nanny, my Dad bought a house as a gift to thank her for raising us right. Whenever we are around, we are always at her place rather than with my parents. I thank Mummy Blessing for always being there for us. She is an exceptional woman. God bless her
