A man suffered life-altering injur!es after being run over by an airplane in a harrowing incident captured on CCTV. Rail Khasanov, a 22-year-old airport technician, was preparing a Ural Airlines Airbus A320 for departure at Koltsovo Airport in Yekaterinburg, Russia, when the aircraft suddenly moved forward. Khasanov had no time to escape and was run over by the plane’s front wheels, with the crew unaware of the accident until they stopped moments later.
Remarkably, Khasanov survived and recounted the ordeal five months after the incident. “I remember everything vividly,” he said. “A giant wheel went over my leg, and at first, I thought it was a nightmare. I didn’t feel pain immediately, but then I felt my bones shatter.”
While trapped under the plane for seven minutes, Khasanov managed to send a message to his mother, writing, “Mum, I was hit by a plane.” He recalled feeling intense thirst due to blood loss and explaining the situation to paramedics before passing out. Doctors later induced a coma to relieve stress on his heart, and when he woke up five days later, he discovered that his leg had been amputated at the hip.
Reflecting on his recovery, Khasanov noted that he wasn’t surprised by the amputation, stating, “Even while under the plane, I knew my leg was beyond saving.” An investigation found the aircraft commander at fault, and Khasanov received £16,000 (RUB 2 million) in compensation. Ural Airlines has also committed to finding him another job within the company.
