Daredevil British Influencer D!es in Fall from Spain’s Highest Bridge

Spanish authorities have confirmed the death of a 26-year-old British influencer and daredevil who fell from the tallest bridge in the country. The tragic incident occurred on October 13 at the 192-meter Castilla-La Mancha Bridge in Talavera de la Reina, west of Madrid. The bridge, once criticized as a costly project with minimal traffic, is often referred to as the “bridge to nowhere.”

According to local reports, emergency services, including national and local police, firefighters, and paramedics, were alerted early Sunday morning, receiving the call at 7:14 am. Despite their prompt response, they were only able to confirm the man’s death after his fall.

The body was recovered and taken to a funeral home. Macarena Muñoz, the local councillor for citizen security, stressed that climbing the bridge is strictly forbidden, a warning that had been frequently issued. She explained that the individuals had come to Talavera specifically to scale the bridge and create content for social media, leading to the fatal accident.

A spokesperson for Spain’s National Police in Toledo told the Metro that the man fell from a height of 40 to 50 meters and that neither he nor his 24-year-old companion was using safety equipment. The incident was first reported by a passing driver.

The 24-year-old companion, initially in shock and unable to speak, has since been released from the police station. Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fall, and while the younger man will not face charges, local officials will decide if he should be penalized for illegally climbing the bridge.

This is not the first time the Castilla-La Mancha Bridge has been climbed for social media content. Similar incidents have occurred, including one in 2016, despite climbing the bridge being prohibited since it opened in 2011.
