The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended two women for the kidnapping and sale of a 5-year-old boy.
The suspects, 35-year-old Blessing Elijah Sylvester from Ikot Enua in Ibesikpo Asutan and 50-year-old Ofonime Etim Essien from Ikot Abiyan in Nsit Atai, were found to have sold the child for N600,000.
State Police Commissioner, CP Joseph Eribo, announced the arrests on Monday, September 30, 2024, in Uyo while presenting the suspects alongside others held for various crimes.
“There is a case of child stealing, where children from this state are taken and sold outside for varying amounts. One child was sold for N400,000, and another for N600,000. We have two women and several other suspects in custody,” the CP reported.
