Rufai Oseni: “I Would Be Surprised If Justice Is Served in Bobrisky’s Prison Saga”

Journalist Rufai Oseni has expressed doubt that justice will be achieved in the ongoing prison saga involving crossdresser Bobrisky.

In a recent audio conversation released by social critic VeryDarkMan, it was alleged that Bobrisky paid N15 million to the EFCC to have money laundering charges dropped. The claims also suggested that he spent time in a VIP facility instead of a regular prison after receiving a six-month sentence for currency abuse.

The issue has drawn the attention of the House of Representatives, which summoned EFCC Chairman Ola Olukayode, Nigerian Correctional Service Comptroller General Haliru Nababa, Bobrisky, VeryDarkMan, and all officials involved in the prosecution.

In a letter dated September 27, 2024, the committee requested that Olukayode and Nababa appear today, September 30, along with all relevant officers.

Responding to the situation in a post on X, Rufai expressed concern that the matter might devolve into mere social media drama and defamation lawsuits. He stated, “I would be surprised if justice is done in this prison saga. When Fisayo Soyombo made revelations about the prison, nothing was done. Many petitions about the prison have been sent to the authorities in the past, but still, nothing has changed. I just hope it won’t end in social media clout and defamation suits, and that the real issues will be addressed. Vested interests are the problem in Nigeria; we are not ready to confront the ills of society.”
